How to Become a MercyOne Volunteer

  • Age Requirement – Must be 16 years or older
  • Application Process – Complete application, background checks, health assessment, reference verification, and interview(s)
  • Health Requirements – Proof of current immunizations required
  • Time Commitment – Minimum 6 months of service or 84 hours per year (e hours/week or for duration of special events
    • For students – two (2) semesters commitment per calendar year
  • Training -- Attend orientation, training, and continuing education as required

Adult Volunteers (Ages 18+)

  • Perfect for: Anyone interested in getting involved.
  • Requirements:
    • At least 18 years old
    • Able to clear required criminal background and registered offender check and required health screening
    • Able to meet the specific skills and knowledge requirements for volunteer opportunities

Volunteer Application

Teen Volunteers (Ages 16-17)

  • Perfect for: High school students exploring health care careers and giving back to their community.\
  • Requirements: 
    • At least 16 years old
    • Parental/Guardian consent required
    • Currently enrolled in school with good academic standing or pursuing a GED
    • 4-month minimum commitment
    • Able to clear required criminal background and registered offender check and required health screening.
  • Able to meet the specific skills and knowledge requirements for volunteer opportunities

Teen Volunteer

Collegiate Care Corps (Ages 19+)

  • Perfect for: College students pursuing health care careers or seeking meaningful service opportunities.
  • Requirements:
    • At least 19 years old
    • Currently enrolled in medical or health care related/adjacent programs - remove the (except for Student Leader Volunteers
    • Three-hour weekly shifts (1-3x/week)
    • College enrollment not required (except for Student Leader Volunteers)
    • Complete all Adult Volunteer requirements
  • Program and Registration Dates:
    • Fall Cohort: August 14-December 11, 2026
      • Applications Open: July 6-24, 2026
    • Spring Cohort: January 18-May 7, 2027
      • Applications Open: November 16-December 4, 2026
    • Summer Cohort: May 20-August 15, 2027
      • Applications Open: April 15-30, 2027
