Douglas Powell, D.O., a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, began practicing at Mercy Medical Center - Sioux City in September. Dr. Powell’s specialty training allows him to perform, what were once, invasive treatments with minimally intrusive methods using image-guided catheters. Mercy Medical Center is expanding our Interventional Radiology department in order to provide more cutting-edge options for the patients of Siouxland. Interventional Radiologists specialize in the treatment of vein disorders, cancer and pain management.

A native of Michigan and graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Powell completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at MSU and Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. Following residency, he received fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and at Cleveland Clinic, where he focused on cardiac imaging. He later practiced in Oklahoma at Hillcrest Healthcare System and the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, where he served as Assistant Professor of Health Sciences. Most recently he practiced in Minot, North Dakota at Trinity Health.

Dr. Powell is board certified in Interventional Radiology and Advanced Level Cardiovascular Imaging. His professional affiliations include the Society of Vascular Interventional Radiology, North American Society of Cardiovascular Imaging, American Osteopathic College of Radiology, and American Medical Association.
